Afternoon Tea at Edith's House

Ever fancied tucking into a cuppa and a warm scone whilst sitting on the toilet? Nope? Well me neither, but that's one to tick off the bucket list anyway.
This Sunday, my best friend and I dragged our hungover asses to Edith's House for a chinwag and a teleportation back to the 70's. Edith's House is a cosy cafe in Crouch End, with decor resembling that of your Grandmother's house. From the moment you step through the door, you are transported straight into Edith's living room, complete with armchairs, an electric fire, real family photos of the owners and knick-knacks galore.
The rest of the cafe is dedicated to a room in Edith's house. There's Edith's dining room, Edith's kitchen, Edith's bedroom and Edith's hallway.
There is even Edith's bathroom, complete with a real toilet and sink, which is where we had the pleasure (if you can call it that) of being seated.

The scones are heavenly and delivered to you fresh out of the oven. There's almond scones, cinnamon scones, and I kid you not....peanut butter scones! YES PEANUT BUTTER!
There's plenty of teas, cordials and freshly baked cakes to choose from and they even do a sticky toffee jam. Everything is served in unique one-off crockery pieces and nothing matches, which just adds to the authenticity of this adorable place. Every single item in the cafe is vintage and unique and that's what makes Edith's House so believable.
My pot of tea was even served in a Prince Charles and Lady Diana limited edition 1981 teapot to commemorate their marriage. It doesn't get much more authentic than that!

You honestly feel like you are having a cuppa at your Grandmother's house snuggled up in her armchair (or in my case, on the toilet) and that's what makes Edith's House so comforting and nostalgic. The decorative detail and accuracy is astonishing and every last corner of the place has been so well thought out.

At just £6 for a scone, clotted cream, jam and your choice of teapot, the prices are so reasonable for the experience you receive, and the fact that this place isn't that well known by tourists, or located in central London, makes it that little bit more special. The owners are fab and make you feel so welcome, along with their little French bulldog who roams around having the absolute time of her life scoffing all the dropped scone crumbs (it's a hard life isn't it!)

So if you're running out of places to try for a spot of afternoon tea on a Sunday funday, Edith's House is an absolute must!
